"Gandharva music is universal. It is at home with every land, with every man, with every society. It is the language of bliss, the science and art of bliss, the song of Nature." Maharishi Mahesh Yogi

“The human voice is the first and most powerful instrument for performing Ragas, no other instrument is capable of rendering the various notes of the Raga as the human voice. Singing is therefore known as the crown of Gandharva Music.”

Theme of the Course: ‘Uncovering the Divine Beauty of the Ragas’:

Shrimati Anita Roy will teach a series of fundamental Ragas which can be learned easily by beginners as well as advanced students. The vocal student will learn beautiful morning, afternoon and evening Ragas like (Bhairab, Brindavan Sarang, Bhupali, Yaman, Bageshree, Rageshree) and simple, powerful Vedic Slokas based on Raga scales.

The course has been designed in such a way that beginners can actually learn in a very comfortable way these beautiful Ragas.

The students who followed previous course, have noticed that right from the beginning, they started to experience tender waves of inner bliss and peace.

Each vocal student will receive course material which includes: printed copies of the Ragas, notation and text that will be learned during the course, special knowledge charts which give fundamental knowledge of Gandharva Music, an audiotape or CD, specially recorded by Anita Roy which summarizes what the students have learned during the course and will help to continue a correct practice at home.

The students will also have the privilege to learn how to play the Tanpura.

It is a beautiful four strings instrument used by the vocalists for accompaniment. Playing this instrument gives the “tonic” (Sa and Pa or Do and Sol)

Maharishi mentioned that Tanpura plays the role of a Self Referral Cycle, which brings. The musician or the listener back to the experience of the inner Self and maintain infinite silence all along the dynamic development of the Raga.

Testimony of one course organizer in Belgium:

“Thanks again for the beautiful course. Although I was only cooking on the course and therefore was only following it from the side - almost like a silent witness -, I must say that it was a very powerful experience. Simply hearing the Raga's and humming along quietly in the kitchen, it really had a strong effect. The part that touched me most deeply was when Anita and the whole group were singing the songs of devotion to Saraswati and to God, at the end of the course. Listening to these most delicate and wonderful songs purified my heart immensely and gave great showers of bliss…

…Also I noticed that my senses are refining very profoundly. It is altogether creating very tender emotions, a very warm feeling of joy and happiness and hope for a world full of peace. Many thanks to Anita for this experience of Knowledge …”
